A Powerful Story: How Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) Found Peace Through the Qur’an
In the early days of Islam, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) was one of the most passionate enemies of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. One day, consumed by rage, he set out with the intention of killing the Prophet ﷺ. Along the way, someone told him, “Before that, check on your sister Fatimah and her husband — they have accepted Islam!” Furious, Umar stormed into his sister’s house. Inside, they were reciting verses from the Qur’an — specifically from Surah Taha. His heart trembled as he heard the words:
"طه، مَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَى"
"Taha. We have not sent down to you the Qur’an that you be distressed."
(Surah Taha, 20:12)
This verse pierced through his hardened heart. He began to weep and said: “This is indeed the Word of Allah.” Soon after, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and embraced Islam. If one verse of the Qur’an could melt the heart of a man filled with hate and rage, can it not bring light to hearts drowning in depression?
Why Are Today’s Youth So Emotionally Drained?
Today’s youth are surrounded by:
But why?
Because their souls are starving, and the nourishment for the soul is missing. That nourishment is none other than the Qur’an.
“أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ”
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
(Surah Ar-Ra’d, 13:28)
No TikTok, song, or therapy can replace the healing power of divine connection.
The Qur’an: A Guide for the Confused Soul
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright.”
(Surah Al-Isra, 17:9)
The Qur’an is not just a book — it’s a healing, a manual for life, and a light in darkness. It transformed the worst enemies into the best of companions. So why wouldn’t it transform your life?
Hadith: What Happens When We Abandon the Qur’an?
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah elevates some people through this Book and degrades others by it.”
(Sahih Muslim)
A nation that clings to the Qur’an is honored.
A nation that abandons it is humiliated.

The Real Cure: Returning to the Qur’an
If you’re feeling lost, anxious, or empty, the solution isn’t far. It’s right there in your home, on your shelf, or even in your phone: The Qur’an.
Start small:

“O Allah, make the Qur’an the spring of my heart.”
A Final Hadith: The Qur’an Will Testify — For You or Against You
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The Qur’an is either a proof for you or against you.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Let the Qur’an be your companion, not your prosecutor on the Day of Judgment.
Conclusion
Dear brothers and sisters,
When we disconnect from the Qur’an, we disconnect from the source of purpose, healing, and peace. If Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) — a man once filled with hate — could become a beacon of light through just one verse, what’s stopping you?
Now is the time to return to the Book of Allah — not just to read it, but to live by it.
